RIP Dick Clark. He was 82.
We’re currently working a full obituary, but it’s hard not to think about his massive contribution to American popular culture, especially American Bandstand. He hosted the music-performance TV show for over 50 years (!), featuring everyone from Link Wray to a very young Michael Jackson to ABBA (oh, that hair!) to Run-D.M.C. But we’re especially taken with Clark’s introduction to “Rock Around the Clock,” a song that captures the energy of not only American Bandstand but Dick Clark himself.
